Athlete’s police station is closed after a police officer there became the first officer in the Cape to be diagnosed with COVID-19. The station is expected to be closed until Monday, April 13.

“The station was immediately evacuated and all the shift members, appropriately 20 of them have are in self-isolation pending their test results. The station had since been decontaminated but it will remain closed until Monday [April 13],” National police spokesman Brigadier Vish Naidoo said to IOL.

According to the statistic released by Premier Alan Winde yesterday [April 11], the Western Cape currently has 567 confirmed cases of coronavirus. Of these, 12 patients are being cared for in ICU.
