World famous and multi-award winning Chinese-American cellist Yo-Yo Ma will be coming to South Africa in 2020. Ma, who has been performing for over 30 years, says on his Facebook profile that he “strives to foster connections that stimulate the imagination and reinforce our humanity”.

In 2018, he set out to perform Johann Sebastian Bach’s Six Suites for Unaccompanied Cello in one sitting, performing in iconic venues around the world that “encompass our cultural heritage, our current creativity, and the challenges of peace and understanding that will shape our future”.

On February 8, 2020, he will make his way to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens in Cape Town. He says that each of his concerts will be an example of culture’s power to create moments of shared understanding, as well as an invitation to a larger conversation about culture, society, and the themes that connect us all.

Tickets are available at Webtickets.
