Last week, the Animal Welfare Society of SA (AWS SA) seized three horribly abused and grossly neglected dogs from a New Woodlands Mitchells Plain “house of horrors.”

After just one week of being in the care of AWS SA, the once “down and out” trio are making a miraculous comeback!
According to Allan Perrins Head of Communications, Resource Development and Fundraising, who has been covering their rescue and rehabilitation since day one: “Their transformation has been quite spectacular and represents yet another shining example of the massive positive impact the Animal Welfare Society of South Africa has on the welfare and wellbeing of all animals entrusted to their care”.
Two of the dogs underwent life-saving surgery while the youngest of the three is receiving intensive one-on-one therapy for physical abuse.
The Animal Welfare Society of SA has attempted to reach out to their alleged tormentor, a 67-year-old woman in the hopes that she would “come clean”, but sadly she appears to remain unremorseful and belligerent, preferring to express her rage and vent her anger towards her granddaughter who alerted them.
The Animal Welfare Society of SA can also confirm that SAPS has assigned an Investigating Officer to the case and remain hopeful that a warrant for her arrest will be issued soon.
