A small sewage spill took place in front of the Big Bay lifesaving club, and the City is cautioning members of the public to be wary of the incident as it has affected part of the Big Bay Beach in the Bloubergstrand area.

The area that has been temporarily closed as a result of the spill, and will be opened within the next 12 hours as natural dispersion will make the water safe.
In order to ensure that the water is maintained as safe for human activity and contact, multiple tests will be conducted over the next few days.
The public is urged to avoid contact with the water until further information is provided.
The beach area affected has been marked off from access and there is clear temporary signage to warn the public.
Members of the public that enter the waters of the beach are doing so at their own risk.
