Partygoers who are eager to enjoy Rocking The Daisies in style and comfort were informed of a ‘rebranding’ of the highest-end glamping option offered by the festival. The ‘Black Coffee Penthouse’ facilities have now been renamed after a miscommunication about the use of the Black Coffee name.
The ‘Black Coffee Penthouse’ was promoted as the swankiest spot to set up tent, so to speak. For R13 795, partygoers could enjoy a spacious 4m x 8m tent with an en-suite camping bathroom, two comfortable beds and a delicious breakfast.
But even though you can still enjoy all these luxuries at the exact same price, the glamping experience is now divorced from the Black Coffee name. Instead, you will now be staying in identically high-end ‘Hallmark Penthouses’, tenting named after the Johannesburg hotel.
Steyn Entertainment, which is behind the initiative, told Business Insider SA the 12 people who had already booked tents under the Black Coffee name had been offered refunds, although nothing else had changed in terms of what they would get.
A representative for Black Coffee, the artist, confirmed his team had requested that his name be removed from the glamping tent marketing.
Other camping passes
Rocking the Daisies has a tiered system of camping, starting at R295 for a basic option, which offers showers, toilets, security and the tent site, or R595 for access to more toilets and showers. This year it also progressively features an ‘Oasis Camp’ described as an “inclusive space for women and LGBTQIA+ festival goers”, who get a “bar, camp site talks, yoga and exercise, change rooms, goodie bags, entertainment and more” for R695.
For higher-end glamping options, Steyn Entertainment will offer a ‘Daisyland’ experience, with several camping options for partygoers to choose from. Other than the now-dubbed Hallmark Penthouses, you can also pay a slightly cheaper R8 995 for a luxury two-sleeper tent named for MaXhosa. For the entry-level ‘Daisyland’ suites, R2 495 will get you and a mate access to a 2m by 2m tent with a double inflatable mattress. These prices exclude tickets to the actual festival, which should be bought separately.
Those festival tickets are now R1 195 per person after early-bird offers ended.
