A body was discovered between the train tracks at the Tygerberg Station on Wednesday morning.

South African Police Services (SAPS) Captain, Jonathan Blankenberg, confirmed the incident.

“This office can confirm that the body of an unidentified person was found between the rail lines at Tygerberg station this morning,” he said.

Currently, the cause of death is undetermined and further investigations will be conducted.

“An inquest docket was registered for investigation and a post mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.”

Metrorail took to social media to inform commuters of a passenger-related incident that resulted in a single line working between Tygerberg and Parow.
