Grassy Park police have registered a murder case after discovering the body of a missing pregnant women, SAPS told Cape {town} Etc.
The 23-year-old woman was buried in a shallow grave at Klip Road Cemetery on Tuesday, 9 December 2025, at about 1:10pm.
Police say the woman identified as Shanice Chante Rudolph (Cape Argus) was reported missing to Steenberg SAPS on 5 December. The circumstances around her death remain under investigation and the case will be transferred to Steenberg SAPS for further inquiries.
A 42-year-old man has been arrested and is expected to appear at Wynberg Magistrates’ Court once charged.
Captain F.C. Van Wyk, media liaison for SAPS Western Cape, confirmed the registration of a murder docket and described the matter as subject to active investigation. He asked anyone with information to contact the police.
The discovery has left the local community unsettled. Klip Road is one of the few active municipal cemeteries serving the southern suburbs, a facility the City of Cape Town manages.
It has seen heavy use in recent years. Residents told local outlets they are shocked and want answers as investigators continue their work.
