An 85-year-old woman from Ruyterwacht was found dead in her home on Saturday, April 18. Her death is currently under investigation. She was last seen by neighbours on April 15, who were concerned for her well-being and reported it to SAPS members patrolling in the area.
Captain FC Van Wyk confirmed that a murder case has been opened.
“Circumstances surrounding the death of a 85 year old woman whose body was found on Saturday, April 18 at about 19:20 in her house in Cecil Rhodes Street, Ruyterwacht is under investigation.
“According to reports SAPS members on duty patrolling the area, attended to the complaint, of neighbours not seeing her since April 15. On the members arrival they found the door was closed but not locked.
“After entering the premises, the body of the deceased was found lying on the bed. A post mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death. Our crime scene experts are combing the scene for clues.”
