Update:
Police spokesperson Captain Frederick Van Wyk confirmed that the age of the unidentified male found washed up near Sea Point Pavilion is estimated to be in the late 30s or early 40s.
‘No one saw him getting into the water. The circumstances surrounding his death are being investigated, said Van Wyk.
He added that Sea Point police have registered an inquest, and a post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
The body of an unidentified man has been found washed up on the beach near the Sea Point Pavilion, prompting an emergency response on the Atlantic Seaboard, reports Cape {town} Etc.
City of Cape Town Ward 54 councillor Nicola Jowell confirmed the discovery in community Facebook group, The Atlantic Seaboard Community Forum, on Sunday afternoon, 14 December.
‘Tragically, the body of a male has washed up on the beach close to the Sea Point Pavilion. The only indication is that the person has been in the water for quite some time,’ said Jowell in the Facebook post.
‘But there is no other information at this stage. All resources are on scene.’

The tragic discovery comes a few months after another body washed ashore close to Sea Point Pavilion one morning in September.
