The body of 32-year-old Sakina Grimwood from Newlands was found on Table Mountain this past Friday August 2 after she went missing on Wednesday July 31.

Grimwood was a lecturer at Varsity College and was last seen leaving her home in Newlands at approximately 1.30pm on Wednesday afternoon.

A search was underway for any information that could have brought her home when the gruesome discovery was made on Friday evening. According to the Western Cape Missing Persons Unit, Grimwood reportedly suffered from bipolar disorder and was believed to be somewhere in the CBD before her body was found.

Western Cape Gangwatch shared on social media on Friday that her body was found at the bottom of a steep cliff near Platteklip Gorge on Table Mountain.

An inquest case has been opened following the discovery of the body and the cause of death has not yet been determined.
