Cape Town police have launched an investigation after the body of an unidentified woman was discovered on the beach near the Kalk Bay lighthouse on Wednesday morning, reports. Cape {town} Etc.
According to Muizenberg SAPS, the body, believed to be that of a woman in her early thirties, was found by a passer-by at around 8:20am.
‘An autopsy will be conducted to determine the possible cause of death,’ confirmed police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Pojie.
‘We appeal to anyone with information regarding the discovery to contact Crime Stop at 08600 10111.’
The tragic discovery comes days after a local man drowned while attempting to assist a paddler who had capsized approximately 150 metres offshore of the Kalk Bay Harbour wall.
The 35-year-old had jumped off the harbour wall to swim to the paddler after seeing that he appeared to be in difficulty on his surf-ski.
