Boet Fighter is ready to release across the country on Tuesday, October 8, 2019.

The description of the game explains it best: “Boet Fighter is a mega-schweet faaghting video game where Hard Eddy and his taaghtest charnas must moer all of Fourways in the face, as they faaght to reclaim his stolen binnet! It’s got creatine, vaalence and house beats, boet… and it’s coming soon!”

The game itself is a typical fighter game, but comes with three scoops of low-carb protein powder from a Norwood supplements store stirred in for extra punch. While the game is filled with stereotypes, locals seem excited to play.

“It’s a side-scrolling 2D platform, beat ém up in the style of Double Dragon and Golden Axe, and with a smidgen of Street Fighter and a sprinkle or two of creatine, and some grey-legal-area performance-enhancing chemicals imported from Eastern Europe,” the official Steam website reads.

Hard Eddy is the main character, and is voiced by Gord Laws, a voice-over artist and radio personality. His boytjie impression is so spot-on that no one has to wonder how many misspent nights he’s seen at Billy’s or any of Johannesburg’s popular boet hotspots.

“If Biltong isn’t a power up I’m not playing this game,” one YouTube commented said. “On a serious note, it’s top notch!”
