Cape Town’s rugby faithful have a new reason to celebrate, as the Springboks’ second official retail store opened at Canal Walk this week, drawing crowds eager to get their hands on the latest off-field Bok gear, Cape [town} Etc reports.
The launch follows the success of South Africa’s first Springbok retail store, which opened in Sandton City just three months ago. The new Canal Walk outlet expands SA Rugby’s retail footprint, giving Cape Town fans a chance to shop official Nike replica teamwear and a stylish new range of casual Springbok-branded clothing.
The store’s unveiling was marked by a star-studded event on Wednesday evening, attended by Springbok standouts Babalwa Latsha, Cobus Reinach, Cheslin Kolbe, Frans Malherbe, Lood de Jager and Selvyn Davids. Western Cape Premier Alan Winde joined SA Rugby President Mark Alexander for the official ribbon-cutting ceremony, underscoring the province’s pride in hosting the national team’s newest flagship store.
Alexander said the launch symbolised more than just merchandise on shelves; it was a tribute to South Africa’s unity, passion, and pride. ‘This store is not just a retail space,’ he said. ‘It’s a declaration of intent and a tangible extension of the values that define South African Rugby, from grassroots development to the elite level of the Springbok jersey.’

He also emphasised the importance of protecting the Springbok brand from exploitation, calling it ‘a symbol of sacrifice, unity and national pride’. Alexander added that the official stores are built on integrity and purpose, offering fans a chance to wear the jersey with pride, knowing their purchase supports the sport’s future.
Fans can expect more than just match-day gear, with the new off-field clothing line designed to be worn ‘not just on Saturdays.’ The growing range reflects a shift toward lifestyle wear, allowing supporters to show their allegiance at work, at the braai, or out and about.
SA Rugby CEO Rian Oberholzer said the new store was part of a bigger plan to strengthen fan engagement. ‘The success of the Sandton City store showed us that the timing was right,’ he said. ‘The Canal Walk opening is another way to offer value to our supporters while broadening our brand beyond replica jerseys.’
The Canal Walk store is located on the Upper Level near entrance 5.
