The South African Police Service continues to fight against extortion as shooting occurs in Bothasig Cape {town} Etc reports.

The Provincial Operational Command Centre’s Combat Team arrested four suspected extortionists, who sustained gunshot wounds during a shooting which occurred around 2pm in Bothasig.
Three fatalities arose as a result of the shooting.
The SAPS team reacted to provided information which stated that seven occupants of a taxi were extorting money from shop owners in Du Noon.
Shortly after the intel was received, the suspects were spotted fleeing the area.
In Bosmansdam Road, the suspects, making use of an assault rifle, opened fire at two police vehicles. Police managed to halt the vehicle on the corners of Bosmansdam and Wylands Roads.
The assault rifle, 9mm pistol, along with an undisclosed amount of cash and the taxi itself, were confiscated.
Currently, the injured suspects are being treated in hospital while under police watch and detectives are pursuing leads to prepare for charges against the suspects.
The suspects have not yet been identified.
The three fatalities and the injuries sustained by the four suspects are being investigated by IPID and a death inquest case docket has been registered.
No members of SAPS or the public were harmed during the incident.
