A search is underway for a 34-year-old Brackenfell man who vanished after an e-hailing trip from Cape Town’s city centre failed to reach its destination on Tuesday evening.
According to Nova News, Juan-Louw Greyling was last spotted leaving the Cape Town CBD about 5:45 p.m. on April 14, after his girlfriend arranged a ride for him.
Hours later, he had still not returned home, creating concerns and prompting efforts to trace his whereabouts.
Greyling’s girlfriend, Chantel Rossouw, said she booked the trip on his behalf as his phone was out of service at the time.
‘His phone was on the blink and in for repairs, which is why I ordered the trip for him. The driver arrived in a white Volkswagen Polo hatchback, and I watched as they departed,’ she stated.
But by the time Rossouw returned home later that evening at 9:30pm, Greyling had not arrived. Concern grew when she contacted the e-hailing platform for answers.
‘Since he didn’t have his phone with him, I contacted app support and learnt that the trip had been cancelled after eleven minutes, with the driver having been unreachable since then,’ she explained.
With no phone and no definite drop-off location, detectives had minimal information.
Greyling is described as being of average build, approximately 1.69m tall, with green eyes and dark brown hair. He also has a small star tattoo on his ankle.
At the time he was last seen, he was wearing a white golf shirt, beige khaki shorts and beige trainers.
Police are appealing to anyone who may have seen Greyling or who has information that could assist in locating him to come forward.
