Gauteng police say a major step has been taken in the investigation into the killing of well-known media personality Warrick Stock, better known to fans as DJ Warras, following the arrest of two suspects linked to his murder.
The arrests come after days of probing the fatal shooting that took place on 16 December, an incident that sent shockwaves through the entertainment and media circles. Officers brought two individuals in for questioning earlier on Monday, and both have since been formally detained.
Stock was allegedly lured to the Zambesi House building in Johannesburg’s central business district, where he was involved in providing security services at the time. He was shot outside the building in what police believe was a planned ambush.
Although two suspects are now behind bars, investigators believe the attack involved more people. Early findings suggested that as many as three individuals may have played a role in the incident, prompting police to widen their search, as per EWN.
Police spokesperson Brenda Muridili confirmed that the case remains open and active, with authorities continuing to hunt for possible accomplices.
‘The two persons of interest that have been brought in for questioning during the early hours of 22 December 2025 have been detained and will be charged with the murder of DJ Warras,’ Muridili said. ‘They are due to appear at the Johannesburg Magistrates Court on Wednesday.’
Police have indicated that further arrests cannot be ruled out as the investigation unfolds.
