Western Cape police arrested three people in connection with a burglary at a police base in Faure between Strand and Stellenbosch, Cape {town} Etc reports.

It was discovered on 12 August that the Faure police premises had been burgled. A firearm safe inside a cage had reportedly been broken into and stun and smoke grenades (among other items) were stolen.

Western Cape police spokesperson Colonel Andrè Traut announced the arrests on Tuesday.
‘[Cape Town suburb of] Kleinvlei detectives joined forces with the Anti-Gang Unit to probe the circumstances surrounding a brazen incident where non-lethal ammunition and a gas canister launcher were stolen.’
‘The first breakthrough came on Sunday when the gas canister launcher and some of the ammunition [was] discovered abandoned next to Baden Powell Drive.’
However, Traut said a small quantity of ammunition has yet to be recovered.
The men face charges of housebreaking and theft, and the woman faces charges of possessing stolen goods and unlicensed ammunition.
The trio will appear in the Blue Downs Magistrates’ Court.
