The City of Cape Town announced that its Water and Sanitation maintenance team has begun excavating at the site of the burst pipe in Baviaanskloof, reports Cape {Town} Etc.
However, progress has been slowed due to the presence of underground electrical cables. As a result, the team has had to continue excavation manually, which has delayed the repair work.
Unfortunately, the areas affected by the water shut-off cannot be reduced because of the location of the burst pipe.
Affected areas include:
- Baviaanskloof
- Scott Estate
- Berg en Dal
- Hanging Meadows
- Beach Estate
- Penance Estate
- Chapman’s Peak
Residents of these areas can expect a continued shut-off of water supply – pending an update from the City by 6:30 pm—while repairs take place.
The City advises residents to keep taps closed to prevent water loss or damage when the water supply is restored.
