Police spokesperson, Joseph Swartbooi confirmed the incident and indicated that the two men aged 45 and 55 years have been arrested and are expected to appear in court.
The shooting incident follows the Western Cape Department of Transport’s engagement with the minibus taxi industry on Friday, July 16. However, no agreement was reached during recent talks as an independent mediator has been brought in for the dialogue to continue between the leaders of the taxi associations.
At least 23 people have been killed in the ongoing taxi war violence in the Western Cape since the beginning of June, SABC reported.
