Delays can be expected from 20 April as Camps Bay Drive is set to be closed for five months. Major roadworks will soon be underway on the busy road which sees more than 14 000 vehicles a day.

Having not been refurbished in over 30 years, Camps Bay Drive will widened by 1.4m on the Table Mountain side between Geneva Drive and Rontree Avenue, while the centre line of Camps Bay Drive will be shifted by 0.7m – effectively widening each lane by 0.7m. The project also entails the improvement of the road surface, with recycled material and asphalt to be laid.

A cool R20 million is being projected as the total spend of the project, which will hopefully be completed at the end of September.

There will be an open day at Camps Bay High School tomorrow, where officials will present to the public project information and alternative access routes.

At least this is all being done before summer starts right?
