A Camps Bay man (84) was found murdered inside his Francolin Road home on Tuesday afternoon, leaving neighbours in shock, reports Cape {town} Etc.
According to News24 the victim’s daughter discovered his body at about 12:50pm and alerted police.
Western Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg said officers opened a murder case after the man was found with his hands and feet tied.
‘The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation, and no arrests have been made at this stage,’ Twigg said. Police noted there were no obvious signs of forced entry.
Investigators are reviewing CCTV from the street and surrounding areas. Private security companies are assisting police with the footage, an insider told reporters.
The inquiry is at an early stage and detectives are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Martin Steinau, chairperson of the Camps Bay Community Policing Forum, said the killing had deeply unsettled residents.
‘Camps Bay is generally regarded as a safe area and for something like this to happen has left the community shocked,’ he said.
Steinau added there was no current indication of an imminent threat to residents.
Anyone with information is asked to contact investigating officer Warrant Officer Kupiso on 082 469 2734.
The police appeal aims to bring clarity to the family and the community.
