Extreme heat has prompted an advisory from the South African Weather Service and SANParks, which says extremely high fire danger is expected across western parts of the Western Cape, reports Cape {town} Etc.
The warning asks hikers and visitors to plan carefully and avoid peak heat hours.

Table Mountain National Park managers set out practical safety guidance for people using the trails. They advise: carry sufficient water, wear light sun-protective clothing, and limit outdoor activity to early morning or late afternoon.
A SANParks message to visitors said, ‘Stay hydrated and avoid hiking during peak heat.’

- Increased risk of runaway bush fires and veld fires
- Fires may develop and spread rapidly
- Potential damage to property
- Possible loss of human and animal life
Rangers also stressed the importance of preventing human-caused fires. They asked visitors not to light fires and to never discard cigarette butts or matches in dry areas. Anyone who spots a blaze should call the emergency number immediately: 086 110 6417.
Emergency services are responding to multiple incidents in the region as crews battle fast-moving blazes under hot, dry conditions. SANParks reminded the public that access to some slopes may be restricted while teams work to contain fires and protect communities and fynbos habitat.
