Though the investigation initially proved challenging, information provided by alert members of the community resulted in the inspectors being led to a residential property in Goodwood.
Upon entry into the property, the SPCA inspectors discovered the abused dog seen in the video, as well as a litter of 4 puppies and two other dogs.
All of the pets housed on the property were rescued, upon reception of a court order from the Goodwood Magistrate Court.
At present, they remain safely in the care of the SPCA.
The video, which had been circulating on social media and initially highlighted the plight of these dogs, showcased two men forcefully handling the dog and pinning her to the ground.
The dog was shown to be screaming and struggling and the video expectedly infuriated communities.
The captured footage will serve as vital evidence in the pending cruelty case against the two men.
The SPCA intends to lay criminal charges of animal cruelty against these men.
The accused stand to face penalties of approximately R40 000 and/or up to 12 months imprisonment.
The Cape of Good Hope SPCA further issues its thanks to kind-hearted community members who remain vigilant and report crimes against animals.
