A Shoprite store in Bothasig, Cape Town is closed after a staff member tested positive for coronavirus on Tuesday, April 7.

The store closed immediately after it was confirmed that an employee had COVID-19.

According to a statement by the group, a professional company has since been brought in to decontaminate the store and deep-clean the entire facility.

Shoprite has confirmed that all employees who worked closely with the infected employee were tested by an on-site mobile clinic and placed in self-isolation for the next 14 days.

“The store remains closed until it is inspected and we receive confirmation from the provincial Department of Health that it may re-open,” said the grocery store group in statement.
