The cluster of properties includes 41 vacant and improved sites as well as three council-owned lease properties.
The properties span from Goodwood to Fish Hoek, and Somerset West to Atlantis – including industrial land near the N1, beachfront commercial leases and adjoining lots in Constantia.

According to Alderman James Vos, the City’s Mayco member for economic growth, auctions are crucial to releasing land for private sector development.
‘The money generated will be reinvested into service delivery, ensuring lasting benefits for our communities,’ he said in a statement. This approach maximises under-used land, driving long-term economic sustainability.
‘Previous auctions led to successful transactions, and it’s an exciting way to spark further development across the city. This sale and lease auction of the various properties represents a catalyst for substantial economic growth.
‘No government, including the City, should be a Land Bank. The City aims to continually look for smart, innovative ways to release land and assets for new investment that maximise the value and use of our assets, ensuring they contribute to economic development,’ he added.
Earlier this month, the City announced that a ‘prime’ 9.2-hectare industrial property located in the Wynland Industrial Park in Kraaifontein will also go on sale.
It is one of the 45 City-owned properties that will join the auction on Wednesday. It is zoned as General Industrial 2 (GI 2), which allows for a range of uses such as manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, offices, showrooms, workshops, and storage yards.
‘The decision to transfer this high-value Kraaifontein asset is strategically motivated to optimise its use, to stimulate economic growth by unlocking private sector-led development opportunities in a region that is experiencing steady growth in industrial activities,’ Vos said.
‘It will drive substantial economic benefits for the surrounding communities, particularly Bloekombos and Wallacedene, which stand to gain from increased employment and economic activity.’
