Constable Moyikwa was on his way to work when he noticed a robbery occurring and proceeded to respond to the scene. He was then fatally shot while seated in his car and further robbed of both his wallet and cellphone.
The SA Police Service has reported that maximum resources have been deployed and a manhunt has been launched to trace the killers of the on-duty officer.
Lieutenant General Tebello Mosikili has condemned the attacks and killing of the men and women in blue and called on communities to work with the police by reporting criminals and criminality in communities.
Mosikili further stated that ongoing attacks and killing of police officers will not be allowed and tolerated.
The statement follows after SAPS has lost five police officers in the line of duty, in the month of January alone.
