The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) have submitted a formal notice to the City of Cape Town to hold a protest on Monday, 26 May 2025, Cape {town} Etc reports.
According to a preliminary notice, the planned gathering or procession will begin at the Tokai Library and proceed towards the Consulate of the United States of America. The motive behind the demonstration has not yet been disclosed.
Authorities, including the South African Police Service (SAPS), the City’s Metropolitan Police Department, and Traffic Services, have been informed. Reddam House School in Tokai, located close to the route, has also been notified, along with the US Consulate.
At present, further details regarding the time, expected attendance, or reasons for the protest have not been made available. However, local officials have confirmed that they’ve requested updates from city departments to ensure accurate information is shared with residents and to minimise the spread of misinformation.
Motorists and residents in the area are advised to stay informed and prepare for possible road disruptions on the day of the protest.
