Rejoice, Cape Town – there is more rain on the way this week. Showers are expected on Thursday, with a 70% chance of precipitation predicted.

Locals are in for highs of 20°C and lows of 16°C on Thursday. The rest of the week will also be cooler, with temperatures moving to highs of 21°C and lows of 17°C on Friday along with cloudy weather.

It comes as no surprise that Capetonians are happily welcoming as much rain as we can get in light of the steadily-decreasing dam levels.

As of March 6, dam levels have dropped to an overall 52.9%, with the least full dams in the province having even lower levels.

Theewaterskloof is currently at an overall storage of 41% and Steenbras Lower is at 51.4%.

The dam with the highest storage capacity in the Cape is currently the Berg River dam at 73.9%.

Remember to dress for the weather tomorrow and cross your fingers that the much-needed rains fall for a little longer than usual.
