The City of Cape Town’s Film Office has announced the opening of applications for its Film Fund, aimed at supporting a variety of productions set for completion during the 2025/26 financial year, Cape {town] Etc reports.
This funding opportunity is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to bolster its reputation as a premier film and media destination in South Africa.
With the goal of fostering growth within the local film industry, the Film Fund provides financial assistance and municipal services to qualifying film and media projects.
This initiative includes support for a diverse array of productions, ranging from short and feature films to music videos, commercials, and reality TV series.
Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security Alderman JP Smith said that, ‘Last month, we announced the fund’s inaugural recipients, showcasing compelling projects that tell unique local stories, deeply rooted in Cape Town’s thriving film industry.’
‘We eagerly anticipate receiving more exciting applications that have the potential to drive job creation, attract international clients, and promote Cape Town to a global audience.’
