A Cape Town mom now stands among the city’s latest multimillionaires. Securing a whopping R30 211 138.30 in Saturday’s Lotto Plus 1 draw, after the jackpot rolled over for three weeks. The winner chose to remain anonymous.
According to ETM she retired last year in 2024 and she goes on to describe the sheer shock she experienced when seeing all of her numbers match.
‘I still can’t believe it. Is this really happening to me?’ she said.
Lotto Plus 1 runs twice weekly alongside the main Lotto draw. The prize is tax-free.
She bought the R80 ticket at a local retail shop. Picking each number by hand, avoiding the quick‑pick option most players choose.
Her plan is first to help her two daughters. Her younger daughter uses e‑hailing services every day, and she worries about her safety. She says that she will buy her a car.
She will invest the remainder of the prize money to secure her daughters’ futures.
She wants a stress‑free retirement. ‘No stress, just peace. That’s my dream,’ she said.
Ithuba, the National Lottery organiser, confirmed the win today and CEO Charmaine Mabuza praised the winner’s plans, describing them as strategic and heartwarming.
Mabuza mentioned that the winner’s story showcases how the organisation empowers beneficiaries to drive meaningful change within their families.
