Rapport claims that hosting the championship match of one of rugby’s top club championships would be simply too expensive for South Africa, as the hosting rights are estimated to be worth over $16 million (R285 million).

In order to investigate the prospect of bringing the coveted final to the region in the future, representatives from EPCR recently travelled to South Africa. They spoke with SA Rugby, who helped arrange a meeting in Cape Town with important decision-makers.
Officials from Cape Town reportedly refused to commit to the high cost even after these discussions. Dublin, Ireland, has already been set to host the season finale.
This year, the Champions Cup final was hosted at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where French side Toulouse claimed the title after beating Leinster 31-22.
