The Cederberg fire that started on 22 December has burned about 35 016 hectares and is now 85 per cent contained, CapeNature reports in a media update on LinkedIn.
The wildfire has been burning for ten days and continues to pose risks in parts of the northern reserve.
Active fire behaviour persists in Division A (Kleinjongenskraal), Maraisberg and Division Z (Remhoogte).
Firefighters say these sections still show active flames, with the potential to spread towards Kleinplasie. All other divisions in the Northern Cederberg are fully contained and under control.

In Division A, crews managed to protect properties from damage but will reassess a section today that could still threaten nearby farms. In Division Z, teams are deployed where the fire is anchored in young veld near Maraisberg, focusing on suppression and monitoring.
CapeNature and Working on Fire ground crews work on 24-hour rotational shifts. Resources from the West Coast District Municipality, Cederberg Municipality and Cape Winelands support operations, especially towards the Kouebokkeveld.
Firefighters monitor mop-up and patrol operations in divisions that are contained.
Crews stay on high alert and will continue suppression efforts until the fire is fully controlled.
