A driver of a stolen car collided with two children, killing one and injuring the other in Valhalla Park on Wednesday, August 26. The driver was being chased by police at the time.
According to police spokesperson FC van Wyk, Flying Squad members were on a routine patrol in the area when they spotted a stolen car wanted for a case. A high speed chase began.
“In Angelo street, the driver of the stolen vehicle hit two children, A five-year-old child who passed away on the scene due to injuries sustained and a 10-year-old boy, who was taken to a hospital for medical treatment,” he said.
“A 32 year old suspect was arrested and is currently at a nearby hospital for medical treatment under police guard. Cases of a stolen vehicle and culpable homicide were registered for investigation. Anyone with information about this incident is requested to call crime stop on 08600 10111.”
