With Christmas Day serving clear skies and pleasant weather conditions, it seems many have taken to the outdoors to gather with their loved ones and make the most of the sunny festive season, reports Cape {town} Etc.
This comes as South African National Parks (SANParks) announced the closure of three of its locations as a result of reaching full capacity.
‘Kindly be advised that the beach section of the Boulders Penguin Colony has reached capacity and is currently closed,’ said SANParks in a Facebook post this morning. ‘The beach area will be reopened to visitors once sufficient space allocation is available.’
A short while later, SANParks once again took to Facebook with a similar announcement:
‘We would like to inform visitors that the Newlands Forest and Oudekraal Picnic Site has reached its capacity for the day,’ the organisation said. ‘We kindly ask that you consider visiting other picnic sites within Table Mountain National Park for an enjoyable outdoor experience.’
SANParks’ alternative picnic sites suggestions:
- Silvermine
- Cape of Good Hope
- Tokai Picnic Area
At the time of the announcement, the nature park organisation also added that the Boulders Penguin Colony beach area remains closed.
‘We appreciate your understanding and cooperation,’ the announcement concluded. ‘Enjoy your visit, and remember to respect the natural environment!’
