The City of Cape Town is gearing up for significant roadworks across the bustling suburbs of Sea Point, Fresnaye, Bantry Bay, and Camps Bay, with the aim to enhance and prolong the longevity of the city’s road network, reports Cape {town} Etc.
This essential maintenance initiative is scheduled to commence on 29 January 2026 and is expected to conclude on 28 February 2026, weather permitting.
Residents and business owners in these popular areas should prepare for increased activity as the City mobilises its Urban Mobility Directorate teams.
Working hours will generally be from 7am:00 to 5pm, Monday to Saturday, with scheduled night work on select roads to minimise traffic disruption during peak hours.
Councillor Rob Quintas, the City’s Mayoral Committee member for Urban Mobility, has urged the public to remain patient during this temporary inconvenience.
He stated, ‘Our teams will do their best to complete the road resurfacing as efficiently as possible. Residents can look forward to fresh roads very soon,’
The roadworks will be comprehensive, including full-width resurfacing and critical infrastructure upgrades such as the installation and replacement of kerbs and channels.
