The City of Cape Town has notified that they will be doing planned work in the identified areas from 11 to 15 August, which will result in water supply disruptions, Cape {town} Etc reports.
‘This critical maintenance work is done on our water-supply infrastructure to benefit customers. Residents in the affected areas are encouraged to take note of the work that will take place and prepare accordingly,’ the City stated in a recently issued public statement.

Zero-pressure tests (ZPT) and conditional assessments will be performed on the water supply network.
On Wednesday, 14 August, from 10am to 4pm, ZPTs and step-testing will be conducted in Pinehurst, Langeberg Hoogte, Durbanville Meadows, Uitzicht and Kraaifontein.
This forms part of the installation process for zone management infrastructure.
‘Tests are done in advance, to see if any unmapped inflows need to be considered before installing new infrastructure (such as pressure reducing valves for pressure management),’ the City stated.
Maintenance work, including pipe and valve installations, repairs and replacements will result in water supply disruption to Brackenfell Industria, Everite Industria, part of Fresnaye, Wemmershoek, Diep River, Elfindale, Heathfield, Southfield, Parkwood, Meadowridge, Plumstead, Constantia, Tokai, Retreat, Steenberg, Noordhoek, Ocean View, Sunnydale and Kommetjie.
Residents are therefore advised to store enough water in advance, as a precautionary measure, in clean, sealed containers.
Brackenfell Industria and Everite Industria:
The water supply to these areas will be shut off from 8am until 8pm on Sunday, 11 August.
Part of Fresnaye:
The Water and Sanitation Directorate will be doing rehabilitation work on the water main in De Wet Road, Fresnaye from Monday, 12 August until Friday, 8 November.
Wemmershoek Water Treatment Plant temporary shutdown:
This will take place from midnight on Tuesday, 13 August until 8pm on Wednesday, 14 August.
Diep River, Elfindale, Heathfield, Southfield, Parkwood, Meadowridge, Plumstead and Constantia

‘This work forms part of the Water and Sanitation Directorate’s proactive infrastructure maintenance and upgrade programme, which ensures the future continuity of water supply by addressing the issue of unaccounted for water,’ the City stated.
