The City has unveiled a new synthetic soccer pitch at the Fisantekraal Sports Ground, marking a R13.7 million investment in the community.
The pitch was officially opened by Councillor Francine Higham, MMC for Community Services and Health, as part of the broader Fisantekraal Recreation Hub (CoCT).
The facility is designed to withstand heavy use throughout the year and will remain playable even during periods of drought, offering clubs and schools a reliable surface for training and fixtures.

According to the City, the development is a milestone for Fisantekraal, providing access to quality playing conditions that were previously limited by water restrictions and seasonal field closures.
The new pitch forms part of the Fisantekraal Recreation Hub, which includes:
- Library
- Recreation centre
- Social development hub
Integrating sport, learning and social services in one location. The City aims to create a central space that nurtures growth, cohesion and opportunity.
‘This pitch is an investment in our youth, our community and our future,’ said Cllr Higham. She encouraged residents to use the City’s booking system, keep the grounds clean and report vandalism or illegal dumping so the facility can be preserved for future generations.

The City has urged schools, clubs and community groups to register regular slots to maximise fair access and to support effective maintenance.
