The City of Cape Town has confirmed that the Camps Bay beach, Glen beach and the Camps Bay tidal pool are once again open to the public.
The reopening of the beaches comes after, the failure of the pump station at the Camps Bay Marine Outfall on Saturday, 5 February.
The City said: ” The Water and Sanitation Department addressed the pump failure and undertook the necessary remedial actions.”
According to the City’s Mayco Member for water and sanitation Zahid Badroodien, a new pump has since been installed, tested and it is currently functioning.
“Work is underway to install a spare pump. No sewage is being pumped via pipes into the surf as the repair work has been completed. Measures will be implemented to prevent incidents of this nature from occurring again,” Badroodien said.
