A fire that broke out in Clovelly last night, completely gutted and burned down a home. Luckily, no one was seriously harmed.

Cape Medical Response (CMR) received numerous calls from residents in the Fish Hoek Valley at about 6pm on Wednesday, June 24 alerting them to a house on fire above the Clovelly Country Club.

According to Jermaine Carelse, Spokesperson for City Fire & Rescue, the City’s Fire & Rescue Service also received an emergency call at about 6pm.

Both Fish Hoek and Kommetjie Fire Departments were dispatched, as well as a CMR response vehicle and an ambulance.

One house was already completely engulfed in flames when CMR and the fire departments arrived. Firefighters worked to get the fire under control, and CMR treated one male patient on scene, he did not require hospitalisation.

The fire was extinguished at 9.46pm. According to CMR, no one was harmed in the fire.

“The house has been under renovations and the family was not living in the house. Our thoughts and prayers to the family who have lost their home,” they wrote in a Facebook post.
