The 2024 Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards is the 27th edition of the annual awards, which are based on reader ratings. The yearly awards span a wide range of categories, including finest hotels and airlines. This year, 575 048 readers voted in the survey.
In addition to being regarded as the fifth nicest city in the world, Cape Town has been rated as the top long-haul destination with the best value for money for British travellers, according to The Independent.

Cape Town topped the Post Office Travel Money’s annual long-haul holiday cost of living barometer for the first time in six years, outperforming 31 other resorts and towns evaluated worldwide.
Time Out magazine also named Cape Town, notably the East City sector, as one of the world’s coolest neighbourhoods. This is based on a global rating of communities by culture, community spirit, nightlife, and food and drink.
The Telegraph‘s 2024 list of the World’s Best 50 Hotels rated Cape Town’s Ellerman House third. The judges of The Telegraph Hotel Awards 2024 commended Ellerman House’s complimentary amenities, sunset patio, and ‘huge pool shining in the terraced garden below’.
Last year, Canadian cities garnered the highest number of votes. This year, more US cities made the top ten, with Cape Town rated fifth.
