An elderly couple has sustained serious injuries after a collision between two motorbikes occurred on Sunday [November 22] on the Franschhoek Pass, just outside Franschhoek.

According to a report ER24: “The husband and wife, who had been travelling together on one of the motorbikes, were found to have suffered serious injuries. The other oncoming biker had managed to jump from his bike at the last moment and was luckily uninjured in the collision.”

ER24 paramedics, along with the Metro EMS, the Stellenbosch Fire and Traffic Departments quickly arrived on the scene at approximately 10.20 on the morning of the incident.

ER24 paramedics treated the 70-year-old man with Advanced Life Support interventions, while Metro tended to the woman. The couple was then transported to the Mediclinic in Stellenbosch for further assessment and care.

The local Franschhoek SAPS were also on-scene to conduct further investigations. No fatalities have been reported.
