Archbishop Thabo Makgoba has urged that the Cape Town International Airport be named after the late Archbishop Desmond Tutu. The iconic Anglican Church leader and liberation struggle icon passed away on Sunday, December 26 at his home in Cape Town.
Makgoba made this request during a private interment of Tutu’s ashes at the St George’s Cathedral on Sunday, January 2. According to the Archbishop, we need to reorder our society to end inequality and create equal opportunities for all.
“Let those of us who have resources pull in our belts, that others can eat enough to fill their stomachs. And why don’t we rename the Cape Town International Airport the Desmond Mpilo Tutu International Airport,” Makgoba said.
