Police have arrested eight people between the ages of 20 and 46 after they were caught with 8849 mandrax tablets, 6000 ecstasy tablets, a tablet maker and cash to the tune of R72000-00 at a house in Parklands.
According to police sokeserson Colonel Andrè Traut, members of the Table View police responded to a disturbance of the peace complaint in Parklands on Tuesday, 8 February.
“When their instincts prompted them to search the premises, the search resulted in the arrest of four males and four females. The approximate street value of the seized items is R1.3 million,” Traut confirmed.
Traut said the eight suspects are expected to make their court appearance on Thursday,10 February in a Cape Town court on a charge of dealing in drugs.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated matter, members of the Anti-Gang Unit reacted on intelligence and arrested two suspects aged 42 and 53 last night in Bishop Lavis for being in possession of two unlicensed firearms and drugs.
Traut further mentioned that the firearms, a revolver and a pistol, ammunition, mandrax and tik were confiscated.
“Once charged, the two suspects are expected to make their court appearances in Bishop Lavis,” Traut said.
