Many drivers leaving Cape Town had a hard time getting to their homes as a result of road closures yesterday. Several protests happened across the Cape simultaneously, causing several road closures to be put in place to protect motorists from falling victim to stoning and burning tires.

According to Maxine Bezuidenhout and Richard Coleman from City of Cape Town Traffic Services, there are still several road closures in place, and these include:

– BLACKHEATH INDUSTRIAL: Wimbledon Road closed both ways between Range, Buttskop and School roads. There is evidence of rubble in the road, and stones being thrown.

– SOMERSET WEST: N2 remains closed between Sir Lowry’s Pass Road and Somerset Main Road.
