March 30 will see President Cyril Ramaphosa’s first dance with the motion of no-confidence vote as announced by National Assembly speaker, Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula.
The National Assembly will debate and vote on this matter which will also assess his cabinet in another session.
No secret ballots are set to be part of the vote, taking on an open-ballot approach, according to Mapisa-Nqakula.
Those voting will consist of Members of Parliament and members of the executive of which some are “first and foremost members of parliament,” she said.
Surrounding concerns toward no secret ballots, some were worried that this might be disruptive should their votes not be in line with that of their parties. To this, Mapisa-Nqakula indicated that “the environment in parliament is not toxic at all,” as per Times Live.
