The South African Weather Service has issued a Yellow Level 2 weather warning for parts of the Cape. “Damaging waves” are set to bash most of the province’s coastline from noon on Friday until late Saturday, 14 May.
“Yellow Level 2 Warning for WAVES resulting in difficulty in navigation at sea between Saldanha Bay and Cape Agulhas is expected from the afternoon, spreading to Plettenberg Bay by the evening and subsiding on Saturday,” SAWS reports.
The warning includes:
- Damaging waves which will to lead to difficulty in navigation at sea for small and personal watercraft. This could lead to vessels taking on water and capsizing.
- Localised disruptions to beachfront activities are likely.
As a precaution, small vessels are advised to seek shelter in harbour, bays or inlets.
