A dead whale has been spotted off the coast of Kommetjie, sparking warnings from local authorities for swimmers and surfers in the area, Cape {town} Etc reports.

The carcass, which was reported earlier today, is believed to be attracting marine predators, including sharks, that may be feeding on the body.
Authorities are advising anyone planning to enter the water near Kommetjie to exercise caution, as the presence of large predators poses an increased risk to water users. Officials have stated that the whale will be removed, but the process may take some time due to the logistical challenges involved in handling such a large animal in open waters.
