Open House meetings were held last year and earlier this year between the District Six custodians and caretakers on the developmental process of the area.
The report details how the initial project to rebuild the area will start from Chapel Street since it connects the community.
According to IOL the Cape Town Deputy Mayor, Eddie Andrews, said the street facilitates “movement through District Six”.
“This area reaches from New Hanover Street to Trafalgar Park and is strategically located to unite communities, highlight character and identity and support the National Government’s restitution process higher up the hill,” said Andrews.
The City, working together with both residents and former residents of the community, aim to make District Six a cosmopolitan and spirited neighbourhood.
