A doctor living in Somerset West and his family were attacked by a gang with crowbars in their home around midnight [June 10], reported News24.
The doctor is a medical specialist and is being treated for a cracked skull after being hit on the head when two people entered his home while the storm currently over the Western Cape raged outside.
According to News24, the attackers entered the home, and took one of the children by surprise who was then tied up. The doctor’s wife then raised the alarm which woke up the doctor after which he was struck on the head by the crowbar.
The wife was then taken to the room where a safe was located and made to open it so the robbers could make away with the valuables.
The doctor, who was not named by News24, for his and his family’s protection, is now being treated in hospital.
