American drinkware brand Stanley has voluntarily recalled about 2.6 million of their travel mugs, due to a potential burn hazard, Cape {town} Etc reports.
The company issued a recall notice yesterday, on Thursday, 12 December, for 2.6 million of their Switchback and Trigger Action stainless steel travel mugs.
The mugs are in the sizes of 12 ounces (oz.), 16 oz. and 20 oz, according to Forbes.
The company has stated that the lid on its Switchback and Trigger action mugs can shrink when exposed to heat. This in turn can cause the lid to detach during use, as reported by ABC News Live.
Currently, Stanley has said that it had received 91 reports of the detaching lids, which resulted in 38 burn injuries worldwide.
16 of the reports and two of the injuries came from U.S. customers. Of the people that were injured, 11 required medical attention.
